How do you approach making your craft?

There are so many questions!  Every individual is either developing, or perfecting their work-at-home regimen.
1.    If there's a routine?  Proactive or reactive to productivity?  Disciplined, or hit and miss?
2.    Do you strive for full time, part time, while relaxing, or seasonal?   A mix of all?
3.    Is your work space separate from you living space?  (If so, I have pad-maker envy!)
4.    Do you strive to make-show-sell, or custom orders, or both?  Custom orders are flattering, but do they slow production?
5.    Is photographing and marketing best when it's fresh?
6.    Regularly update marketing platforms, correspond with email, communicate?

With such an age variation amongst pad makers these days (young perhaps with toddlers, middle age with distractions, or older with more time) I really appreciate your thoughts on these questions.  Even let us know if you are a stay at home mom, work outside plus inside the home as a balance act, or close to an age where setting our own schedule is achievable.

Thank you!  I look forward to your sharing of thoughts!

I'm jumping in here first! Not to take the lime-lite, rather I have a very full week with a show! In reguards to #1 - 6, here is my knowledge:
1. Somewhat of a routine, loosley. Since I live alone, I work 2-days a week at a supervisory position (Hotel) that I appreciate as I am put in a position to "deal" with the public. Other than those days, yes, I'm fairly good at a routine, and being "proactive rather than reactive" is my goal.
2. A mix of all! PT, but evenings or "bad-weather days" finds me making pads.
3. Oh my gosh...my amazing small house and my living room I share with 2 small house dogs is my pad-work space.
4. I do both custom, and inventory building. They all sell, and yes, custom pads are a bit slower.
5. Yes/no on photographing when fresh. I really dislike taking photos when it's sunny/bright. So waiting for that hazzy/no shadow day sometimes slows this step down. Cell phones are amazing nowadays!
6. Updates and communication for me are daily. Otherwise I get bogged down.

1) I work as my SAHM schedule allows, usually a few hours each night once the kids are asleep.
2) Enjoying doing it very casually!
3) work space is my living room, so I wait till kids are asleep so my baby and toddlers aren’t unwinding wool and pulling at the pad with dirty fingers lol.
4) Really enjoying the flow of custom orders only. I’m always a few pads out but the rhythm works for my busy mama lifestyle.
5) I photograph when the lighting is good!
6) post very occasionally on social media.

Thanks for the forum Diane!

I so appreciate your comments, Jackie! Sounds hectic and fun! It’s hard to imagine the balancing act you must have, and yet be dedicated to building pads. Please keep up the good work! Preserving the hand-made qualities of these pads is paramount! Thank you!
