What works to get saddle pads sold?

Young makers today are social media Guru's!  I fall terribly short in this area as my birthdate is prior to President Kennedy being elected Nov. of 1960!   So what is working and what isn't?
What is working for Makers to sell their Pulled Wool Saddle Pads?
  1. If attending Events, what is the scale of your involvement?   Big/small events?   Avoid certain types of events?  Drawn to Ranch type events?
  2. Word of Mouth?
  3. Running sale-specials, donation of a pad for  certain causes?
  4. Social media?
  5. Combo of all?
  6. If you have a website, and own your email list, do you email contact?
What is working, and what can be improved on? Genuine questions I get asked regulary.  My advantage is my three decades building pads.   Thanks for contributing and building a base for better sales for us all!

Word of mouth in our ranch/cowboy community, and running into people at branding / ropings that see one my husband or I am riding and want one is how I sell mine. I have had all custom orders (only been making them a bit over year though!) so curious what will change with time.

Thank you Jackie!

Where are you located? Congrats on being a more recent pad maker AND custom orders!

Word of mouth advertising in addition to quality of craftsmanship sure does work! Looks like you are proof of that?

I appreciate your comments!

Hi, for me, it started with advertising on Facebook, and it seems word of mouth is now giving me more orders. I am not computer smart to make a web page, so I just use my personal account.

Thank you Cheryl for commenting ⬆️. For you Facebook has been a good start to advertise for you?

BRAVO and kuddos to FB for offering many of us a venue to share/peddle our wares!

Would you say Word of Mouth has worked for you too?

For me social media is a great tool for selling these pads..I’m not great at social media but I have learned a lot in the past few years. We live rural and don’t get out unless it’s branding seasons lol so social media has been a great tool for me. Consistently posting on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok has created a really neat village of makers, customers and people who awe over the pulled wool saddle pads. I’ve recently done a raffle for a saddle pad and I have overwhelming support from that! When times are rough and not a lot of people have a lot of spending money I think that is a good route to go to help move inventory. 😊

Thank you Katelyn. That's an interesting (and successful) point to take an oppurtunity to "donate" to a worthy cause and how that helps advertize our pads. I'm quite excited about your recent raffle! I've never done that!!! Certain pads (of mine) have had bidding wars, but I've never raffled a pad off. Would you say you would do that again? What impressed me was the ultimate selling price kept the value of the pad! BRAVO! Bottom line: Social Media brought that to the forefront. Seems like there's a lot of good that comes from Social Media. ~DM
